Wednesday, March 11. 2009Solstice ProjectsI haven't been racing all that much or doing many things modification wise to my car, but I've still stayed very active in the Solstice community. I've actually worked on two major projects in the last year that have consumed a good bit of my time. At the end of 2007 I started working with a group of other Solstice/Sky enthusiasts to create an organization to help aid in doing national meets and in aiding local groups. We spent several months doing teleconferences preparing the layout of the organization and structure. We finally went live at the start of 2008 with the North American Solstice-Sky Owners Association (NASSOA) and we've been slowly gaining membership ever since. I am currently the Communications Chair of the organization and I also setup and maintain our web presence. Near the end of last year as the economy tanked and GM fell flat on their nose another group of us realized GM was very likely to kill of our beloved car that had brought us all together. Working with several of my fellow SolsticeForum.com moderators we fleshed out and implemented Save The Kappa as a means to spread news and information to owners. We've begun a mail letter campaign of sending written letters to GM executives in order to plead our case and hopefully keep the car alive or at least extend its life some. I've done the entire web design for this particular project where with NASSOA we hired a graphic designer to do the skinning. Monday, April 28. 2008My mood: accomplished
Painted rear fascia and exhaust
I needed to do some touch up on the under hood cover work I had done recently so I picked up some black high heat enamel since I also wanted to black out the inside of my exhaust tips. The GXP just makes them so black all the time, especially since I don't have a muffler to catch any of the soot in. So I painted the inside of the outlets black and then decided while I was at it to paint the lower rear fascia also. Took all weekend to do it starting Friday night but it was fun. It's really hard to make out the inside of the exhaust outlets because of the lighting and them being black.
Sunday, April 27. 2008Quarter panel protectors
I had been wanting to get the 3M clear bra material for the quarter panels on my car for a while since I love to eat cones at Auto-X events and have gotten a couple a couple slight paint dings from them. They're like $150 and then most places want like another $100~$200 to install them...
Saw a company making a magnetic cover, but they didn't exactly cover the areas I wanted to cover and were only in black. So I bought some yellow magnetic material I pretty much took and covered the area with a ton of blue painters tape to the point I had made a large template out of it. I used that to then cut the magnetic sheet to size. Looks like it's going to fit pretty well and once I give the magnet a chance to mold itself to the car body should stick pretty well and protect me from those cones I seem to love so dearly. Friday, April 18. 2008Underhood Painting
Took and used some of the left over brake caliper enamel and painted the Solstice lettering on the underhood of my car. It's a heat shield that's a foam like weave material, and it just sucks the paint up like crazy. It took about 6 coats to get it to create enough of a base to paint on and then I put another 2~3 coats on top of that. I think it looks pretty good though. I also picked up some black enamel I'm going to use to paint the inside of my exhaust tips. The Direct Injection on engines causes them to burn in such a way they make a lot of soot, so my tailpipes are always black as is.

OMG Solstice Coupe is GOOooo!!!Sunday, August 5. 2007National Kappa Day car cruise
So it's been 2 years since the first Solstice was delivered to a customer on Aug 5th, 2005 so I put together a Sunshine State Solmates car cruise in commemoration of the event. We had 11 Solstices and 13 Skys. We started at the Radison and had breakfast, drove to Ron Jons, then went to lunch, drove to Sebastian Inlet State Park, and finally worked our way back up towards Orlando.
I have to say Google Maps is the greatest EVAR!!! since they added the ability to drag routes to exactly where you want them to be. LONG Google Linky My full gallery of images can be found here; http://www.inner-ninja.com/gallery2/v/kappa/mysolsticegxp/2007_08_05+-+National+Kappa+Day/ Here we are coming down off the Intercoastal bridge towards Ron Jons. The SSS group hanging out at Sebastian Inlet State Park. One of the members took as we drove by, so here I am. Wednesday, August 1. 2007New windrestrictor!!!
So I got my new light up windrestrictor in that I won at the National Solstice meet. Had the SSS design and www.solsticeforum.com put on it. I've got the brake light module I just need to install it now.

Supercharged 'Classic' Solstice "Short" Wine Tour/Hanging Limb Sunday, July 15. 2007Monkey's new Solstice arrives!!!
Monkey's Solstice arrived and he even went on his first car cruise too this last Sat.
Here you can find all the pics of Monkey's new Solstice arriving at our house. http://www.inner-ninja.com/gallery2/v/kappa/Monkeys+Solstice/Solstice+Arrives/ Then the very next day Monkey came and joined us at our SSS breakfast meeting in Lake Mary. He finally got to drive his own Solstice instead of mine for once. http://www.inner-ninja.com/gallery2/v/kappa/Monkeys+Solstice/Car+Cruise/ Wednesday, January 31. 2007Various things
Been fairly occupied recently. I've had family matters to tend to that have kept me busy.
Been talking with a company that's making new exhausts for the Solstice and Solstice GXP. SOLO-Performance Going to get their "Race" edition of their exhaust kit. 3" exhaust with a single outlet. My car has 2.5" dual exit right now with a muffler. This design uses no mufflers or resonators so it'll be louder for sure, and produce a good bit more power too. The best part of all is it'll let me use my hitch again finally meaning I can bring my race tires to the track with me finally. Was at a Microsoft conference recently and saw a convertible hardtop MX-5 for the first time. Looks kinda odd in person.
Friday, December 22. 2006New misc pics
Nearly at 850 miles and enjoying every single one of them. Took a bunch of pics tonight of various things, and they're in my gallery now.

Subs taste better in other cities...
Did my inaugural "drive to Cocoa to go to firehouse and get a sub" drive last night.
Love me some Fire House subs, and I love to drive Solstices so last year I combined that into driving out to Cocoa (about 45 miles away on the east coast) to find the one Fire House restaurant in that entire area. Well last night I went out again to get me some more miles on my GXP (need 500 to finish the "break-in") and some more tasty subs. I got Micah to go with me and Matt met us at the place so we hung out for a bit before driving home. This Fire House was run by some of the laziest people ever. They place closes at 9pm on a weekday, so unlike most places that are open till closing time then the close down the dinning area and do cleanup, they were doing it then so they could leave at 9pm. Walk in at 8:10pm and ask if they're even open (the sign outside says open). We can order food but we can't eat in the dinning area? Fuckin stupid... So we went and ate on the back of Matt's truck while we talked. Sub was tasty and the drive was fun. Got about 250 miles on the car now, working my way slowly to 500. Then I'll romp on it some more to get used to the power and handling of this car. At 1000 miles I'll change the oil. After that Micah and I are going to the Orlando Speedworld 1/4 track to do some runs against each other. Our cars have comparable numbers on paper (his 2007 Mustang GT is slightly faster) so we'll see who can out shift who. Tuesday, December 5. 2006GXP is GO!!!
My hotness has arrived!!!
